Life Transitions

Life is full of changes—some we choose, others that are thrust upon us. Whether you’re facing grief and loss, navigating a major life change, or feeling stuck and uncertain about your next steps, transitions can leave us feeling lost and overwhelmed. Therapy offers a compassionate space to process these experiences and find your way forward.
Grief and Loss
Grief, loss, and unexpected life changes can be incredibly painful, leaving us questioning why this happened and what it means to move forward. Whether you’ve lost a loved one, experienced the end of a relationship, or are mourning other significant losses, there’s no “right” way to grieve. Together, we’ll create space for you to process your feelings, honor what you’ve lost, and gradually find meaning in your new reality.
Role Transitions
Life transitions often involve shifting from one role to another, which can feel both exciting and destabilizing. I help clients navigate a wide range of transitions, including:
- Graduating from college and figuring out your next steps
- Adjusting to civilian life after military service
- Finding a new path after job loss or career changes
- Becoming a parent or adjusting to empty nest syndrome
- Retirement and redefining your sense of purpose
- Moving to a new city or starting fresh in unfamiliar surroundings
Finding Your Way Forward
Maybe you’re in the midst of a recent change, or perhaps you’ve felt stuck for a long time, unsure of what direction to take. Both experiences are valid, and both deserve attention. In therapy, we’ll work together to:
- Process the emotions that come with change and uncertainty
- Identify your core values and what gives your life meaning
- Strengthen your sense of self while honoring your past roles and relationships
- Develop practical strategies for moving forward
- Build resilience for future transitions
Change doesn’t have to mean leaving everything behind. You can honor your past while creating space for new growth and possibilities.
Primary approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
