Relationships

Whether you’re navigating challenges with your partner or working through patterns in your social connections, relationships are at the heart of our wellbeing. Many clients come to therapy wanting to change something about their relationships—whether that’s learning to communicate more effectively, building confidence in social situations, or creating deeper intimacy with loved ones.
Couple & Conjoint Therapy
Couple therapy offers a collaborative space to work together with your partner toward greater understanding and connection. I believe that relationship challenges often stem from underlying patterns that develop over time, and my approach focuses on helping you both recognize and shift these dynamics.
In the initial stages of couple therapy, we’ll explore the “DEEP” aspects of your relationship:
- Differences - How your unique backgrounds and perspectives shape your experiences
- Emotional sensitivities - What tends to activate intense emotions
- External stressors - Life circumstances impacting your relationship
- Patterns - The cycles you find yourselves stuck in
I will meet individually with each of you during this process to better understand how your unique life experiences are influencing your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors within the relationship. Once we have a solid understanding of these dynamics, especially your patterns, we can identify when and how they show up and work together to develop emotional acceptance and change.
Primary approaches: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy (IBCT)
Individual Therapy for Relationship Concerns
Improving your relationships can also be a powerful focus of individual therapy. Loneliness, social anxiety, or difficulty managing big emotions can keep you feeling stuck in your connections with friends, colleagues, or romantic partners. When intense emotions take over, it can become challenging to communicate effectively with the people you care about most.
Individual therapy provides a space to explore how your mental health may be impacting important relationships in your life. Together, we’ll build skills for interpersonal effectiveness while strengthening your confidence and self-esteem. You’ll learn to navigate social situations with greater ease and develop the tools to maintain meaningful connections.
Primary approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
